Premier League Key Dates 2019/2020 and VAR

We are big football fans here at Tech Savvy Dad, and now that the 2018/19 season is over with Manchester City retaining the title we find ourselves wondering what the transfer window will bring and what are the key dates for the 2019/20 season.

Lets start with the Premier League transfer window. The window opens officially on 16th May 2019.  Although clubs may agree deals in principle before this date, they can't be completed until then.  For any international transfers, they cant be completed until 11th June 2019 when the FIFA transfer matching system opens. The window will close on 8th August 2019 with deadline closing at 11pm.

The actual Premier League season begins early again with the opening games taking place on 10th August 2019. Fixtures will be available for all clubs from 9th June 2019 at 9am.   The season ends on  17th May 2020 with all teams playing at the same time.

VAR is set to be introduced for all Premier League games next season with all clubs having agreed in principle to having it included in their games, this could still change before the start of the season but expect it to be introduced.  Personally i'm still not convinced on VAR.  I know its a great support for the under pressure referees, however it takes away some of the things that make football what it is. The dodgy penalty decision, the offside goal that stands, or the onside goal given offside.  Having been watching football since I was around 7, this will be a huge change for me as a fan, so I can only imagine how it will affect the players.

We are all Everton supports here and are expecting good things from our team next season, having had a strong finish to our 2018/19 season. The transfer window is as important as ever with us needing to keep some of our key players, Idrissa Gana Gueye being, in my opinion, the most important player to keep hold of.  A Striker is a must, to bolster the attacking line with Dominic Calvert Lewin not quite there yet, and Cenk Tosun still struggling to live up to expectations.

Who do you support and what are your expectations for next season?
